    Michigan State University is an NCAA Division I-A school, with baseball, basketball, cross-country, diving, football, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, soccer, tennis, track & field, and wrestling for men and basketball, cross-country, diving, field hockey, golf, gymnastics, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis, track & field, and volleyball for women. The team nickname is the Spartans. There is a cheerleading team and a dance team. Michigan State competes in the Big 10 Conference and is a member of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.

    The University has recently launched a fundraising campaign to improve athletic venues at Michigan State University, including baseball, softball, and soccer. Existing facilities include a large stadium, an indoor tennis facility, an ice arena, a field house, two baseball fields, and a soccer field.

    Michigan State offers 12 sanctioned intercollegiate athletic programs for men and 13 for women. The Spartans have numerous athletic facilities that they call home, including the 72,000-seat Spartan Stadium and Kobs Baseball Field.
