Michigan State University Admissions
Applications to the undergraduate programs are generally accepted through 30 days prior to the semester to which one wishes to be admitted, with an application fee of $35. The deadline may occasionally be earlier. In addition to the application form and fee, students must provide transcripts and tests scores. Applications can be submitted on-line. Admission to Michigan State University is competitive, with students generally having a GPA of 3.34 or higher and an SAT combined score in the range of 1030 to 1250.
Graduate students should consult their department for specific admission information. MBA students, law school students, medical schools students, and veterinary school students will be admitted through the particular College and not through the graduate office.
Through the Michigan State website you can apply for admission, schedule a campus tour, or check your application status. The middle ranges of admitted freshmen for 2004 included a GPA between 3.33 and 3.80. ACT composite scores were 22 to 27, and SAT composite scores were 1030 to 1250. None of these reflect minimum requirements, but demonstrate the average performance of admitted freshman students. More concrete standards are determined by the student’s desired major and previous experience & performance in similar studies during high school.
